Shake Up Your Routine: Try Something New!

Revisit a vegetable you’ve disliked in the past—but in a new way.

Used to balk at broccoli? Not a fan of cauliflower? Shun sprouts? Sometimes trying a vegetable you used to dislike in a completely new and surprising way can make you a bona fide groupie. For instance, boiled broccoli can be blah, but char those same florets in the oven on high heat and the resulting burnt broccoli becomes mind-blowing. Same thing with Brussels sprouts—stinky Brussels sprouts won’t win rave reviews, but don’t be shocked when you go back for seconds…or thirds…of these Smashed Parmesan Brussels Sprouts. And cauliflower becomes crave-worthy when served as creamy mashed potatoes or carby fried rice. My final example is Kale: it might not top the list of most wanted veggies, but after you whip up a batch of these Kale Chips, they’ll disappear –poof. I’m encouraging you to browse my site (or others) for recipe ideas and inspiration to give new life to ex-veggies.
