3-Ingredient Frozen Chocolate Berry Bites
These little frozen bites taste like a fruity chocolate treat straight from the freezer — but nutritionally, they’re doing a lot of quiet work behind the scenes. Three ingredients, real benefits, and genuinely delicious.

As someone who loves ending the day with something sweet, I’m always keeping a stash of quick, minimal-ingredient treats on hand. Some of my favorites are Snickers Dates, 2-Ingredient Chocolate Fudge Cakes, Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Cups, Cashew Cookie Dough Bites, or my 3-Ingredient Chocolate Cookies.
Step 1: Prepare the chia jam

Step 2: Make the bites!

Frozen treats hold a special place in my heart—and my freezer. I always have a collection going, whether it’s my 2-Ingredient Chocolate Blueberry Clusters, Frozen Banana Snickers, Mini Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwiches, Chocolate Crunch Bars, Key Lime Pie Bark, or Frozen Banana Peanut Butter Protein Balls. And now these circular jammy gems have officially earned their spot in thefreezer lineup.
Chia jam is practically an everyday staple in the Bauer house. It’s so easy to make, endlessly delicious, and genuinely good for you. This recipe takes my jam (and yes, these treats are quite literally my jam, LOL) and freezes it into mini disks, then tops them with melty chocolate and sends them back in the freezer to set. One simple extra step that somehow makes all the difference.

What makes these bites so special
Berries (blueberries or raspberries) are rich in antioxidants, including anthocyanins linked to heart and brain health. They’re naturally lower in sugar than most fruits and a great source of fiber for better digestion and steadier blood sugar. Raspberries lean extra fiber-forward, while blueberries are especially celebrated for cognitive support.
Chia seeds bring even more fiber, which helps thicken the jam naturally and promotes fullness. They’re also a terrific source of omega-3 fatty acids, plant-based protein and minerals like calcium and magnesium.
Dark chocolate rounds it all out with flavanols—antioxidant compounds tied to heart and brain benefits—while adding rich, indulgent flavor that goes a long way in small amounts. When paired with fiber-rich berries and chia, it makes for a genuinely balanced sweet bite.
Together, these three ingredients deliver a slew of plant-powered nutrients , and a treat that feels both indulgent and joyful. That’s the whole delicious idea!

3-Ingredient Frozen Chocolate Berry Bites
Ingredients
- 2 heaping cups blueberries OR raspberries, fresh or frozen
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
- 1 cup dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Cook the berries: Place berries in a wide, shallow microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 2–3 minutes, checking at the 2-minute mark, until softened and very juicy.
- Mash and mix in chia: Mash with the back of a fork to break up the berries. A mix of liquid and chunky bits is perfect. Stir in 2 tablespoons chia seeds. Let sit on the counter (or in the fridge) for at least 15 minutes, until thick and jam-like.
- Scoop & freeze: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a tablespoon, drop 16 compact spoonfuls of the jam onto the sheet. Freeze for at least 30 minutes, until firm.
- Melt the chocolate: Melt 1 cup chocolate chips in the microwave (20–30-second bursts, stirring between until velvety smooth) or using a double boiler until perfectly melted. Spoon the melted chocolate over the tops of each frozen jam mound and gently swirl to cover the surface.
- Freeze to set: Return to the freezer for at least 30 minutes, until the chocolate is firm.

I make these with strawberries as well.
Hi Chuck! What a smart (and delicious/nutritious) substitution! Thanks for sharing with the community! — Eliza (Team Joy)
I’ve made this recipe with raspberries, blueberries, and Sweet Karoline blackberries. All were delicious and super easy to make. Two were with vegan dark chocolate and, to be different, I then used white baking chocolate (non-vegan), but had to melt a second batch since the first one burnt due to my inattention. Think I will stick with dark chocolate in the future. I understand heating the fruit for a couple of minutes to soften before mashing, but forgot that step with the blackberries and still they turned out amazing!
Hi Betty! This is the kind of kitchen experimenting we LOVE to see!! So glad you tried different berries…blackberries sound like a delicious twist! And yes, you can definitely skip heating them if they mash easily (though a quick warm-up helps release juices and soften the texture a bit). Thanks so much for sharing your variations—so fun and helpful for the community! — Eliza (Team Joy)
