Blueberry Chia Jam Toast with Greek Yogurt
This is the easiest way to upgrade your morning toast—no boring breakfast vibes here! This Blueberry Chia Jam Toast is just sweet enough, with a heaping spoonful of homemade blueberry chia jam piled on top of protein-packed Greek yogurt.

My Blueberry Chia Jam is a staple in my kitchen and use it in all sorts of fun ways….from Berry Spritzer to my 3-Ingredient Frozen Chocolate Berry Bites. This version is a bit more traditional, but wow does it make toast feel like a treat. And here’s the best part: if you make a batch of jam in advance, this breakfast comes together in 5 minutes tops!
Why you’ll be jammin’ on this toast
- Blueberry chia magic: The chia seeds help transform juicy berries into a thick, spoonable jam.
- 5-minute friendly: Make the jam ahead and breakfast is practically done.
- Balanced breakfast: Whole grain toast, Greek yogurt, berries, and chia bring smart carbs, protein, fiber, and healthy fats.
Step 1: Make the chia jam

Step 2: Build your toast

As a registered dietitian, I love when a simple recipe brings both joy and nourishment to the plate. This heavenly slice features antioxidant-packed blueberries, protein-filled Greek yogurt (swap in cottage cheese if you prefer!), fiber-rich whole grain toast, and chia seeds that do double duty: they add plant-based omega-3 fats and help the blueberry juices thicken into that fabulous, jammy texture.

I don’t know if you know this, but I used to be in a band—yup, before my dietitian days, I had a little rockstar era, haha. I’ve been playing the piano and electric keyboards for as long as I can remember…and I grew up surrounded by music thanks to my amazingly talented dad and brothers, who play every instrument under the sun. My son and nephews are musicians too, and there is rarely a family gathering that doesn’t turn into an impromptu jam session.
Soooo naturally, this Blueberry Chia “Jam” Toast makes me smile. Not only is it a fabulous breakfast, but it’s so simple and fun, you can easily turn your own afternoon into a little jam session like mine. 😉

Blueberry Chia Jam Toast with Greek Yogurt
Ingredients
- 1 slice whole grain bread, toasted
- ½ cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
- 2 teaspoon chia seeds
- 2 tablespoons flavored Greek yogurt
- Optional honey to drizzle on top
Instructions
- Warm blueberries: Microwave the blueberries in a microwave-safe bowl just until they soften and release their juices — start with 30–40 seconds, then microwave in 10–15 second bursts as needed (microwaves vary!).
- Mash blueberries: Remove from microwave (be careful, it’ll be hot), and mash the larger pieces with a fork or the back of a spoon. This will help breakup some of the larger chunks.
- Thicken with chia: Remove from microwave, stir in chia seeds and allow to set for about 5 minutes. Stir again.
- Assemble the toast: Spread yogurt on toast, top with jammy blueberries, and drizzle any leftover berry liquid and optional honey over the top.

I followed the recipe as written and I really enjoyed it and will definitely be making it again. The only suggestion I will share is to watch the blueberries because 60 seconds was too long and it made a small mess for me. Overall, I loved the recipe. I just might make it and have it for dessert sometime!
Thank you!
Hi Pam! Thank you so much for making it (and for the super helpful tip)! You’re so right: microwave timing can really vary, so I’d start with 30–40 seconds, give the berries a quick peek/stir, then add more time as needed to get them juicy without the bubble-over mess. I’m going to add this note on the recipe page…so I’m grateful to you for pointing this out.
And I love the “dessert toast” idea… YES!
