Best Bites for a Day at the Beach

Roasted pepitas

Pepitas are nutritious and scrumptious shell-off pumpkin seeds, and they can satisfy a craving for sweet and/or salty snack food (I’m looking at you chips, pretzels and cookies). Best part? They’re filled with protein, fiber and immune-boosting zinc. You can buy them already roasted or make a homemade version. I like to whip up two renditions—one spicy and one sweet. The sweet features a lip-smacking combo of cinnamon and sugar, while the spicy spin consists of a fiery mix of cumin and cayenne. Whip up one (or both) and bring a bag to enjoy as you watch the sun set.
