Why you’ll love this recipe:

  • Cozy fall flavors in a bowl: Warm cinnamon and earthy sage bring serious autumn vibes to every bite.
  • Quick & easy: Just one pot and 20 minutes is all you need for a flavor-packed sauce.
  • Super versatile: Use it as a pasta sauce, on grain bowls, or as a cozy dip for roasted vegetables.
  • Wholesome & nourishing: Made with simple ingredients like pumpkin, tomatoes, and herbs.

This sauce is about to change your dinner game. We’re taking a jar of your favorite marinara and transforming it into something so special with the addition of pumpkin puree, cinnamon, and fresh sage. Broth or stock thins it out just enough to create the perfect pourable consistency, and a pinch of red pepper flakes brings just the right amount of heat (if you’re into that!).

The combination of cinnamon and sage is what truly makes this sauce shine. The earthy sage leaves pair beautifully with the warm spice of cinnamon, creating a flavor that’s uniquely comforting and perfect for autumn. The pumpkin puree adds richness and body, while the garlic powder, dried basil, and crushed red pepper balance everything with savory depth and a hint of heat.

Plus, it all comes together in one pot! Toss everything in, give it a stir, and let it simmer away. The flavors meld beautifully into a delicious sauce that tastes like it’s been cooking all day—when really, you whipped it up in no time in 20 minutes.

This Cinnamon-Sage Tomato Sauce pairs perfectly with so many dishes. Try it over your favorite pasta, spoon it onto a plate of turkey meatballs, or serve it with spaghetti squash. It’s even amazing drizzled over or as a dipping sauce for roasted vegetables.
