Chocolate Mug Cake
This rich and chocolatey treat is perfectly portioned, ready in less than two minutes, and requires only three simple ingredients. The end result is shockingly rich and indulgent and will most definitely hit your sweet spot. I love to enjoy it warm with a squirt of whipped cream and pinch of cocoa powder.

You can also customize this treat to make your own delish variation. Love mocha? Add a dash of instant coffee or espresso powder to the batter. Bananas for banana or berries? Stir in some chopped fruit. Crazy for chocolate peanut butter? Mix in a teaspoon of your favorite nut butter and be ready to drool. Thanks to this lightened up creation you really can have your cake and eat it, too. You’re welcome!

Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a microwavable mug or ramekin and thoroughly mix. Microwave for 50 seconds. Let cool, then dig in.

We love this recipe!! We add 3 tbsp or a little more peeled grated (food chopper method) granny smith apples to your mug cake recipe. (& cook for 1 minute 16 seconds). So Yummy! And feel it’s a little more healthy with the apple added in.
Love this, Jane! What a delicious and clever twist!! I’m definitely going to try it this way, thanks for sharing!
Hi.
Wondering if I could make this ahead of time? And if so how would I store it?
Hi Bridget! Since my mug cakes are best enjoyed fresh and warm, I usually recommend making and eating them right away. If you’d like to prep ahead, you could measure out the dry ingredients in a little container or baggie, then just stir in the water when you’re ready to cook it. On the other hand, if you do make the mug cake and want to save it, you can cover and refrigerate it for a day or two, then reheat gently in the microwave…it may lose some of that just-baked fluffiness, but it should still be yummy. Hope this helps!
