Total Time: 5 minutesmins
Ingredients
2cupsfresh strawberries, hulled
1teaspoonpure maple syrup
½teaspoonvanilla extract
1teaspoonmatcha powder
3 to 4tablespoonswarm water
Milk of choice, for pouring
Lots of ice
Instructions
Make the strawberry layer: Add the strawberries, maple syrup, and vanilla extract to a blender. Blend until smooth.
Add to the glasses: Divide the strawberry purée evenly between 2 glasses, spooning it into the bottom.
Make the matcha layer: In a small bowl, whisk the matcha powder with 3 to 4 tablespoons warm water until smooth and no lumps remain.
Build the drinks: Fill each glass generously with ice. Slowly pour in the milk of your choice over the ice, leaving a little room at the top for the matcha.
Top with matcha: Gently pour the matcha mixture over each drink to create that gorgeous green top layer.
Serve: Stick in a straw, give it a stir, and start sipping.
Notes
• Layering tip: For the prettiest red-white-green effect, pour the milk slowly over lots of ice, then add the matcha gently on top.• Matcha tip: Always whisk the matcha with warm water first so it dissolves smoothly and doesn’t clump. • Sweetness note: This recipe has a lightly sweet, fresh strawberry flavor. For a sweeter drink, add a touch more maple syrup to the strawberry layer. • • Milk options: Dairy milk is especially delicious here and gives it that classic coffee shop vibe, but almond, soy, oat, or any favorite milk works beautifully.• Make it vegan: Use a plant-based milk, such as soy, oat or almond. • Gluten-free: This recipe is naturally gluten-free.• Serving tip: This is best enjoyed right away, while the layers are fresh and the ice is nice and cold.
