Ingredients
1large onion, thinly sliced
2frozen Beyond Stack Burgers
1 ½ouncesGruyere cheese*
2whole-grain hamburger buns, optional
*You can swap in Jarlsberg, Swiss or Muenster
Instructions
Liberally mist a skillet with nonstick oil spray and warm over medium-high heat. Add sliced onion to the hot skillet and sauté for 17 to 20 minutes, until onion is golden brown and caramelized, stirring occasionally.
If onion slices become dry at any point, mist with extra oil spray or add droplets of water to keep moist. Season with salt and pepper to taste and transfer to plate.
Reapply oil spray to skillet and add frozen burger patties. Cook for 3 minutes on the first side, flip and cook the second side.
When you hit the 1-minute mark on the second side, add a generous pile of sauteed onions on the top of each burger, followed by cheese.
Cover skillet with a lid and continue to cook another 2 minutes to melt cheese and finish cooking burger.
Transfer to a bed of greens or enjoy your French Onion Burger on a whole-grain bun!
