It’s a pawsome feeling to make doggie treats from scratch. This DIY recipe takes minutes to prep and only requires a few everyday ingredients.
Yield: 35Treats
Prep Time: 5 minutesmins
Cook Time: 25 minutesmins
Total Time: 30 minutesmins
Ingredients
2bananas, mashed
½cupwater
1cupcreamy peanut butter*
1cupwhole wheat flour
A pinch of cinnamon, optional
Ingredient Details to Know
* Choose a natural peanut butter made primarily with roasted peanuts. A small amount of salt or oil is okay, but always check the ingredient list and avoid peanut butter containing xylitol or any other sugar substitute, as these can be dangerous for dogs. When introducing a new treat, check with your veterinarian if your pup has any allergies, health conditions or dietary restrictions.
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place silicone dog-treat molds on a baking sheet for stability.
Add the mashed bananas, water, peanut butter and cinnamon, if using, to a large mixing bowl. Stir until smooth and well combined.
Add the whole wheat flour and mix until a thick, evenly blended batter forms.
Spoon the batter into the molds, filling each cavity to the top. Use the back of a spoon or a small spatula to spread the batter into the corners and smooth the tops.
Bake for about 20 minutes for softer, chewier treats. For firmer, crunchier biscuits, continue baking for 40 to 50 minutes total, checking periodically toward the end so they don’t become overly browned.
Allow the treats to cool in the molds for 5 to 10 minutes. Gently remove them and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. For longer storage, freeze for up to 4 months and thaw individual treats as needed.
