These summer stars are sizzling—creamy coleslaw, juicy burgers, chocolaty s’mores, and even refreshing daiquiris and sangrias—made lighter and more nutritious. Your next cookout will be the event of the season thanks to these delectable dishes, a reimagined spin of all your seasonal faves. Fire up the grill, mix those drinks, and prepare for a crowd; your backyard is about to be the hottest spot in town!

You can’t enjoy a burger without a scoop of coleslaw on the side. This version gets its nourishing flavor from crisp veggies tossed with apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard and delicious add-ons, including scallions and dried cranberries. It’s colorful, easy to assemble, and super satisfying.

Classic Potato Salad

More side dish satisfaction with this creamy potato salad! I like to use Yukon gold potatoes because they have a nice, velvety texture, but you can swap in another variety if you prefer (red potatoes, small white and fingerlings work well, too). I mix in a little mayo, grainy mustard and apple cider vinegar for some zing along with red onion and chives for an extra pop of color and pizzaz. I also top it with my optional “mushroom bacon”…which lends a chewy, bacon-like experience in a plant-based format. Whip it up and watch it disappear 😉

Spinach Turkey Burger

Why grill up a regular burger when you can add a little flair and nutrition to your patty by mixing in chopped greens—spinach, kale or whatever you may have in your fridge. It’s such a simple addition and it beefs up your meal with fiber, vitamins, minerals and delicious flavor, too!

Peach Caprese Burgers

Take your protein-rich patty over the top by adding a bit of sweetness with grilled peaches. Check out this perfectly layered masterpiece: On a toasted bun, add your burger, topped with melty mozzarella, a drizzle of balsamic glaze, fresh basil leaves, grilled peaches and arugula. It will not disappoint!

Banana S’mores

These Banana S’mores are heavenly and deliver a dose of potassium! Simply slice a skin-on banana by making a slit down the middle. Stuff your banana boat with chocolate chips and mini marshmallows, and wrap loosely in foil. Bake in the oven or grill until it gets melty and gooey (you can also make in an air fryer or microwave), then enjoy as is…. or top your masterpiece with berries and/or crushed graham crackers. Dig in right out of the peel with a spoon.

Creamy Lemonade Pops

If you prefer a chilly treat for dessert, these creamy lemonade pops are just the thing. They call for only three ingredients and take no time to prep. It’s like enjoying a cool glass of lemonade, in creamy pop form. They’re refreshing, sweet and fun—the perfect way to end your barbecue. And because it’s homemade, you control what goes in (protein-rich Greek yogurt, lemon zest and lemonade), and what stays out (junky ingredients like artificial colors, additives, and lots of extra sugar).

Strawberry Orange Daiquiri

The ultimate summer sip: frozen daiquiris! I created this naturally sweet version featuring frozen strawberries, fresh lime juice, orange juice, a shot of rum and a bit of water.  It has a thick and luxurious texture, making it a wonderful treat when you’re lounging by the pool or hosting a backyard barbecue.

Pomegranate Sangria

Warm weather = pitchers of sangria! I have a tasty spin that I usually whip up whenever I host outdoor summer get-togethers. My Pomegranate Sangria is loaded with fresh fruit (oranges, apples, strawberries and pomegranate seeds), red wine and berry-flavored sparkling water. It’s wonderfully refreshing and so tasty.

Black Razzberry Slushie

Slushies remind me of my childhood summers—slurping down chilly sweetness and playing all day in the hot sun with my friends. I still love an ice-cold slushy on a warm day, but fortunately, my tastes have matured a bit since then, LOL. These days, I whip up my own to control what goes in (and what stays out). This version features just two ingredients: frozen berries and deliciously refreshing LaCroix Sparkling Water. It’s pure sipping satisfaction.
