This drunken fruit salad will get your party started! BONUS: It’s packed with nutrients and fiber, and gets even more delicious the longer the tequila and orange liquor mingle with the naturally sweet, juicy fruit. If you like salted rims (I prefer no salt, but most of my family members are #teamsalt all the way), just make sure to only salt the outer edge of the rim so the salt doesn’t fall into the drink and override the delicious flavor. I’m telling you, these sassy fruit “cocktails” are easy to make and such fun to devour!

This recipe makes 4 servings
Ingredients:
  • • 1 cup tequila
  • • ¾ cup orange liquor*
  • • ½ cup lime juice
  • • 3 heaping cups cut up fruit (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, kiwi, whole strawberries, blackberries or grapes**).

*you can swap in orange juice

**If using grapes, pierce a hole in the end of each to better absorb the booze.

Preparation:

To a pitcher or bowl, add tequila, orange liquor (or orange juice), and ½ cup lime juice. Mix together.

Add fruit chunks, making sure it’s submerged in the tequila mixture and chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour to overnight.

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fruit and place on a plate. Pierce ~ 4 to 6 pieces fruit per skewer and lay 2 skewers in each margarita glass (you’ll have about 8 skewers total). Pour the remaining tequila mix into each of the glasses over the fruit (~1/2 cup per glass).

NOTE: To line glass rims with its signature salt, mix a few tablespoons kosher salt with ~ ¼ to ½ teaspoon lime zest and crush, using your fingers or a muddler (this will help it to blend together and better stick to the rims). Make a small slice in the middle of a leftover lime wedge and run it around the rim to moisten it. Then, dip the “outside” of the rim in the lime salt. It’s important to keep the salt on the outside of the rim so it doesn’t fall into your delish drink and ruin it.

For a virgin rendition, soak fruit in 1 cup OJ + ½ cup lime juice.
