This sauce has all the flavors of fall—cinnamon, sage and pumpkin. It’s a tasty replacement for plain tomato sauce if you’re looking to change things up. It’s delicious poured over a batch of homemade turkey meatballs.

This recipe makes 1 cup
Ingredients:

• 1 can (15 ounces) 100% pumpkin puree
• 1 jar (24 ounces) of your favorite tomato or marinara sauce
• 3 cups chicken or vegetable broth, reduced-sodium
• 6 sage leaves, minced
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 2 teaspoons dried basil
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• Salt and pepper to taste
• Crushed red pepper, optional

Preparation:

Add all ingredients to a large pot, mix well and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes uncovered. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle on some crushed red pepper to kick up the heat, if preferred.

Makes 6 cups; 1 cup per serving
